It's hard to believe that Hailey is 18 months old today. It feels like time is just flying by... probably way faster then I would hope! It seems like everyday Hailey transitions more from being a baby to a little kid. Sure everything I read about this age calls her a "toddler" but that's still hard for me to believe. This phase has been so much fun! Everything is so new and exciting and it is just awesome to watch the joy and wonderment on Hailey's face as she's figuring out this crazy world:) Here are some of the things that Hailey can do at 18 months: Count to 2 (sometimes 3, haha), knows her primary colors, jump, blow kisses, spin in circles, dance, and play hide and seek. Hailey's vocabulary at 18 months: Momma, Dadda, Po-po (for Porter), kitty, doggy, apple, bubbies, cookie, turtle, please, another one, all done, thank you, poop (daddy taught her that one!), peas, cheese, more, no, baby, blue, stuck, tickle, truck, beep beep, and keys. I'm so excited to see what the next few months hold for Hailey! I cant believe that the next time I write one of these things up, it will probably be for her 2nd birthday! We love our baby (she's always going to be my baby, even when she's 25), and feel so blessed to have her in our lives and are excited to see what type of amazing person she grows up to be.
12 month check-up
Hailey had her 12 month check up today (I know, it's 3 weeks late, but it's the soonest I could get her there!). She did great!!! The doctor said she looked perfect, and that "she is continuing her trend of being little." He said that was totally fine, she is a VERY healthy baby:) He was shocked when I told him how much she actually eats. The kid must have a hollow leg, hehe. She is just too dang busy, and burns everything she eats off. She now weights 18.1 pounds and is 30 inches long. So she's long and skinny, who ever would have thought!? The doc was impressed with her walking skills and said she is right on track for everything. He said we had to follow the rules though, and couldn't turn her carseat around until she weighs 20 pounds... we're excited for that! Hailey is such a fun kid, and becomes more and more of a joy with each day that passes. She loves to play with all of her toys, she now has her favorite blanky. She loves climbing on and through things, and is quite the explorer. I love the fact that she can now make herself laugh:) She is such a goofball! We feel very blessed to have had a great check-up today, and once again hear from the doctor that our baby is "perfect." We wont be going back for another 4 months, but the closer we get to 20 pounds, I will be bringing her in to work to make sure we know when we hit that mark!!! :) We are so excited to see how Hailey grows and to see the fun kid she develops into!
A little late with my 11 month old update
I'm a little late with posting Hailey's update for 11 months, but I thought I would write a little something. As you can see by the video posted, Hailey is now a walking lady! She still crawls for the most part, because it's faster, but she is starting each destination with a few steps. She's also learned 2 styles of waving (we call them serious and goofy), clapping when we say "YEA!!!" and we're working on getting her to blow kisses. Each day is so much fun with Hailey. She has such an exciting outlook on life and finds all sorts of new adventures. Hailey is still a little peanut. I had her at work the other day and she was 17.10 with jean overalls on, so I will say she was 17 pounds. So, sadly it doesn't look like we'll be turning her car seat around on her first birthday (she has to be 20 pounds first). But that's ok!!! We know she's healthy and happy, and she's just petite like her Great Gram-E! Hailey LOVES to eat now. Every new food we give her to try she likes. I think she is just sick of baby food and wants to feed herself... which is fine with us! I cant believe how close we are to her first birthday. Time is flying by way to fast!!!
10 months old
Hailey is now officially 10 months old (as of last Monday). It seems like these days, she is doing something new all the time! Hailey has discovered the wonderful skill of being able to make herself laugh, which has been a lot of fun to watch. Her favorite thing is to play with Frank the cat... she thinks that is just hilarious! Some of Hailey's "tricks" these days are: clapping, waving, making noises with her mouth, and blowing spit bubbles. We are almost done with baby food. Hailey doesn't seem to really care for it any more. So we have moved on to mostly finger foods (i.e. pastas, tofu, any meat we can get her to eat, and cut up fruits and veggies). She has definitely become her own little "indepentent woman" and wants to feed herself. I cant say that Hailey is walking yet, but she is showing signs of getting close. She cruises on everything and is starting to stand for a few seconds on her own. She loves to walk around the room with us holding onto her fingers. Hailey is so much fun these days and we couldn't feel more blessed to have such a happy, healthy baby! I cant believe we're already planning her 1st birthday party!!!!!
9 Month Check up
We had Hailey's 9 month doctors visit today. We got nothing but good news for our little girl! The doctor was very happy with how she looked and her over all development. He was very impressed with her balance and awareness. She weighed in at a tiny 16 pounds 2 ounces! She is 28 inches long, which is almost 2 inches longer then she was a month ago! All-in-all this was a great visit... espeically since she didn't need any shots:)
9 months old!
Hailey is officially 9 months old today!!!! She is growing up so fast, but it has been so much fun. It seems like every day she has figured out something new and exciting. It's amazing to see how one day things will just click and she never looks back. On Mothers Day I got a great gift... she started pulling herself up on EVERYTHING! Since she has figured that out, she is now taking steps when we hold her hands and is transfering from one object to the other (i.e. couch to ottoman). On top of that, she has mastered crawling and can really zip around a room. There's definitely no more relaxing for mom and dad! She is keeping us on our toes. We made it through our first bad sickness this past month. Hailey spiked a fever or 102.9. Luckily, she broke her fever over night and was doing much better the following day. We were sure she had an ear infection, but "luckily" she had a sore throat and her ears were clear as day! We're hoping to put off the ear infection As you can tell by the video from Mother's Day, Hailey loves to wave at everything. I turn on the light and she waves at it, the cat walks by and gives him a wave... just about anything moving get's a cute wave from Hailey:) Hailey is eating pretty much anything we put in front of her. She's not too sure about the baby food meats. Although, she does like the meat we give her from our plates. She likes it so much that she saves it in her cheeks for later, haha. I guess she's our little squirral:) We will be going in next Tuesday (5/20/08) for her check up. I will post her stats then.
Hailey 7 months old
Well, Hailey was officially 7 months old on Sunday. I couldn't say enough good things about our little baby:) She is so much fun and there is something new every day. She is sitting really well now and is getting REALLY close to crawling. She likes to spin on her belly, push herself backwards and she has rocked back and forth a couple of times. If she has enough motivation (i.e. cat or toy) in front of her, she is determined to get it! Hailey is talking more and more these days. She is starting to combine sounds such as "da" and "ba." We're to the point now where we have to keep everything an arms reach away, or else she'll grab it. Although she is keeping us busy, we couldn't have asked for a better baby. As you can tell by the video on here, she loves to have fun and laugh. Every day is a new day for her, and she's up for the adventure! Hailey also loves peek-a-boo and a good book before bed time. We dont have another doctors check up until she's 9 months, so we wont have a weight until then. However, she is eating a ton now and loves every food that we've given her so far. I cant believe that we're already past the 1/2 year mark! we're going to be celebrating her 1st birthday before we know it!
6 Month check up
Well, we had Hailey's 6 month check up yesterday. She did great. The doctor said she looked good and everything was on track. She's hitting all the developmental milestones right on time. We got the go ahead to start feeding her new kinds of food gradually, which is pretty exciting! She loves her cereal now, so introducing different flavors (like carrots and peas) is going to be fun.She weighed in at a whopping 13lbs 15oz! So she's still on the teeny-tiny side, but the doctor said there was nothing to be concerned about, she's just a petite little girl:) We're all guessing that once she starts eating new foods, the pounds will start packing on.Both the nurse and doctor loved her and just thought it was so great how much she was studying every little move they made! She made it through her shots and thankfully she doesn't have to get any more until her 12 month visit! Her little legs were sore last night and this morning, but she seems to still be in good spirits.All-in-all it was a great visit!
Hailey's 6 months!
Hailey is officially 6 months old today! I cant believe how fast time if flying by. We have had so much fun this first 6 months with our little sweet pea, that we're excited to see what the future brings. In honor of Hailey's 6 month birthday, we gave her rice cereal for the first time this morning. Daddy wanted to wait until she was exactly 6 months before trying it out. At first she didn't seem to like it, but by the end she was scarfing it down. She finished the whole bowl! Next we'll move on to steamed carrots and green beans, oh boy! Hailey will go in for her 6 month well visit at the doctors on Thursday and recieve her next round of immunizations. I will make sure to let every one know her stats (weight, etc) after her visit. We are guessing that she is right around 15 pounds now. She is still wearing her 3 month clothes, but is just starting to fit into some of her 6 month outfits:) She's sleeping all night and was a great little baby and got on her sleep schedule right away... we know we are so lucky and blessed with the sleeping stuff. Makes us nervous for baby number 2! At this 6 month mark Hailey has her 2 bottom front teeth in and a little bit of hair. She's chatting up a storm and loves to smile and laugh!
